Venue

The Study Group will take place in Limassol, Cyprus, at the Cyprus University of Technology and at the Poseidonia Beach Hotel. On the first day (5th December) the official opening of the Study Group, at the Cyprus University of Technology, will be a  public event with short talks by eminent academics followed by presentations of the problems from the selected companies/organisations (see Programme). The subsequent teamwork sessions will take place at the Cyprus University of Technology and at the Poseidonia Beach Hotel.

Accommodation

Poseidonia Beach Hotel. Preferential rates for the Study Group participants have been secured at this hotel. When we accept your registration we will send you the code you will need for your online room booking, along with other useful information. The booking code will be valid until 3 weeks before the Study Group, and you will have to pay the full amount for your stay when making the booking (you can cancel up to 7 days before arrival).

Travel (airport coach,local bus, taxis)

Limassol can be easily reached from both airports in Cyprus: Paphos (PFO) and Larnaca (LCA). The duration of the trip from the two airports to Limassol is about 45-50 minutes, and a regular coach service is available, at the cost of €9 per person including VAT and luggage (one way). Taxis can also be hired outside the airports (50-60 Euros per ride).

From the Larnaka airport to the Poseidonia hotel: Get off the coach at the first stop in Limassol: “Tourist Area, opposite the Grand Resort (see Google map: Amathountos 1, B1, Pareklisia, Limassol”). Then you can take the number 30 local bus which runs very frequently between 6am-11pm (no buses between 11pm-6am). The number 30 bus timetable is here. From the coach stop to the hotel it should be around 10 minutes with the number 30 bus.

From the Paphos airport to the Poseidonia hotel: Get off the coach at the “St George Havouzas” station (Central Coach Station). Also, these Frequently Asked Questions answered by the coach company are very useful.

From “St George Havouzas” it is quite difficult unfortunately to reach the Poseidonia hotel with local buses. The easiest way to reach the hotel is by taxi (cost around 12-15 euros). For this local taxi ride you can use the taxi company which collaborates with the Cyprus University of Technology by texting 00357 96 46 46 46 upon departure from the airport with the following information::

  • Your name:
  • Time of arrival in Limassol: (45 minutes after your departure from Larnaca/Paphos airport)
  • Destination (Poseidonia hotel or other)

From the Poseidonia hotel to the Cyprus University of Technology: You need to get the number 30 local bus which runs very frequently between 6am-11pm (no buses between 11pm-6am). You can get off at the bus stop “Ayia Napa Church”. The university buildings where the events will be held are about 5 minutes on foot from this bus stop.
